Right here in our community we have a fabulous 17,000 s.f. community center, it’s a center that is very involved in enhancing the living experience for the residents of Chino Hills. It has so much to offer in forms of activities, classes, and events that take place throughout the year. Our staff at Chino Hills Self Storage feel so fortunate to be able to not only volunteer but also participate in many of the events and activities that are offered, and I hope after you are done reading my blog that you will be encouraged to experience what the center has to offer.
What it has to offer:
Banquet halls, Conference rooms, multi-use fitness rooms, game room, a great commercial kitchen, and a beautiful park like setting all around the center that has outdoor exercise equipment, as well as a walking loop for those who love to walk in a beautiful setting, and for those who are avid walkers after 3 laps you have walked 1 mile.
All that it has to offer is available to the community to rent, it’s important to know that the rental fees are based on the calendar year of events so be sure to go to their website to get an accurate rental rate of the area that you are interested in. And, I must not forget to acknowledge the beautiful outdoor gazebo that has hosted many outdoor weddings.

Events
The center hosts a variety of annual special events that take place every year, for many residents these events have become a tradition helping families to build lasting memories. Here are a few of the events that are popular, and our community looks forward to them every year. Concerts in the Park, Independence Celebration, McCoy Family Campout, Holiday tree lighting and the ever so popular annual Boat Parade. These are just a few, when I say we have a very active community center, I truly mean it. I encourage you to visit the website calendar of events so that you don’t miss out on any fun.
Another very popular event is the spook-tacular Halloween TRICK or TREAT. This event is held at The Shoppes at Chino Hills (check out my blog on the Shoppes) The event offers many candy stations, craft stations, mobile recreation games, and my favorite, costume contest. The Spook-tacular TRICK or TREAT is highly recommended by the staff at Chino Hills Self Storage. So, if you choose this fun event dress in your best costume and don’t forget your treat bag. Again, prepare yourself for this event or any others by utilizing the event calendar at the Community Centers website.
Let’s talk about the Holiday Season:
This is not so much as an event as it is an outreach program. There are two parts to this amazing program. There are the Applicants and then there are the Donors. Every holiday season family’s that are facing hardships can apply for assistance through this program offered by community center. Families who qualify through an applicant process will receive help with items they need from residents, businesses and community groups. These donors can adopt one of the families and help provide for their holiday needs. If you are a family that may need this outreach or maybe, you are a donor who would like to give joy to one of the families you can call the Recreation Office at (909)364-2700. Online donor information is also available through Monday, November 17th. Chino Hills Self Storage will be among the donors; it’s a great opportunity for us to give back to our community.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Let’s remain on the topic of giving. The City of Chino Hills Volunteer program is an incredible way to give back to our community as well. There are city volunteer positions in all City Departments. Her are a few; Graffiti Abatement, Road/Trail/Park Adoption, Citizens on Patrol, this is just to name a few, if you would like to volunteer in our community you can visit the Community Centers website and submit an application electronically, you will go through an informal interview and will be matched to a wide range of volunteer opportunities.
Parks, Trails and Facilities:
Chino Hills is a small community, but we have 44 parks, five community facilities and over 3,000 acres of open space and 48 miles of trails. The trails welcome hikers, runners, bicyclists, and equestrians. The community website lists the parks, trails and facilities as well as providing a visual of each hiking trail, it’s a fantastic tool to use if you are planning to explore the great outdoors of Chino Hills.
Eye catching landmarks:
If you have the pleasure of being a resident or a visitor to Chino Hills, then you may have seen some of our utility boxes around the city wrapped in beautiful art that celebrate Chino Hills heritage. Since the beginning of this program there have been 30 utility boxes wrapped in photographs taken by local artists. Our city has set a goal to wrap 10 boxes each year until all 50 city -owned utility boxes are complete. If you are an artist or a photographer and would like to submit a photo for this endeavor, simply visit the community centers website to learn mor about the Utility Box Art Program, just maybe one of your submittals may be chose to wrap one of the boxes. I have seen many and it turns a metal box into a piece of art that enhances the beauty of Chino Hills.

Active Adults 50+:
New programs are always being added to the calendar to help our seniors stay socially active. There are senior luncheons served daily at the Chino Senior Center, 13170 Central Ave. homebound meals are available to, if you or someone you may know has this need, you can call the Family Service Association office (909) 287-7946
Along with the meal program our community center also lists information about transportation services for our senior community as well, if you are not technically savvy, you can also call Chino Hills Community Center, and they can give you guidance as well.
Ready to learn how to swim:
Well, here in Chino Hills our community has made it easy for you to do so. Red Cross certified lifeguards and water safety instructors are dedicated to teaching the kids in our community to swim, they utilize fun techniques that teach them pool safety along with basic swimming skills that help them to develop swimming skills. This program is for all ages, and you can register online at the Community Center website. There are registration fees, and you can register in a group or private lessons.
Near and dear to my heart:
Through our wonderful community center, you can find out about activities for the special needs, along with programs and fun outings such as bowling, soccer and basketball, they also recruit and coach athletes for the Special Olympics. Each year our city hosts three social gatherings that provide opportunities for fun and connection in an inclusive environment. And our city continues to expand opportunities for accessible recreation. Several of our parks are adaptive to their needs, these parks are listed on community websites as well.
I have shared many wonderful things about what our Community Center does for the Chino Hills community but there is so much more, the website is very easy to navigate, and I encourage you to take the time to visit the website as well as the center itself. When we have a bit of down time from Chino Hills Self Storage then our valued customers may just run into us at the community center, look for us on the walking trail or maybe in the game room socializing with local residence. And, as always, we hope to receive a visit from you to Chino Hills Self Storage, our goal is to provide you with our expertise in guiding you to make the right decisions for your storage needs.
Happy trails to you and yours!
