Our staff at Chino Hills Self Storage love all kinds of animals, we do our part when it comes to assisting the needs of our animal community, whether it's a food drive for our local rescue programs or contributing to the catch and release program for stray cats, as well as feeding and watering skunks, squirrels and even possums. But, in this blog I'm going to highlight a popular pet store that also does their part for our animals in the community.
The Humble Beginnings of a Local Legend
Kahoots is a family owned and family focused pet store that has a sweet history. They had a humble beginning that began in the 80's. It all started with hay and two friends Mike and Ethan who began to deliver hay from door to door in the horse country, as their customer base grew the more they began to listen to the needs of their customers, realizing that their customers animal needs were more than hay so they began to increase their product line. The concept of listening to their customers and delivering what they needed became priority and to this day it remains the same, because of this concept their delivery service developed into multiple storefronts that supply the finest pet products.
From a simple hay delivery service that sparked a bigger need created their mission and motivation to launch their own brand of Kahoots products, through much research and development they now have premium products to help nourish and extend the lives of our beloved pets, they even took it a step further and placed emphasis on employee training and education classes through their very own Kahoots University.
Much like us here at Chino Hills Self Storage, it’s not just about the product. It's about family, community and the needs of those who don't have a voice, our pets and animals of the community. Who knew that from a flatbed truck of hay would one day fill a need that would help our pets to live longer and healthier lives, I'm sure Mike and Ethan did not know at the time of driving from door to door with hay that one day many would be coming to their storefront doors, because that’s exactly what came out of these two young men who had a heart to help the people and their animals.
Serving Chino Hills Since Day One
In 1990, Kahoots very first storefront started out as a feed store in Moorpark, Ca. To make ends meet, the two friends lived at the store, from there the next store opens in Ramona and doubles as the Corporate Headquarters, they continued to sell and deliver their premium hay, but their product line continued to grow. Then in 2003 Kahoots opens its first all pet supply store in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego. Then in 2004 they expand into LA County opening a huge feed store and pet supply in Chatsworth. That's when they began to become the neighborhoods pet supplier. Just like us here at Chino Hills Self Storage, we were the very first storage facility in our community, filling the storage needs for our local neighbors, and to this day we continue to offer the best kind of storage as well as customer service.
All the hard work that began with Mike and Ethan eventually pays off; they quickly became voted the Best in 2012 and continue to be voted the best to this day. Their storefronts continue to grow from community to community and in 2019 their Kahoots Brand hits the internet for online orders. They continue to research the needs of their customers and strive to meet those needs with success. Their number one priority is to nourish the bond between them, the pets and the pet owners.
Kahoots not only support pets and their families, but they also support local rescues, shelters, and pets in need across the communities in Southern California and now Arizona. Their stores offer their own brand of pet supplies as well as other premium brands for our pets. From food, to toys, to bedding and health and wellness. And you can be sure that every time you visit your neighborhood Kahoots you will receive help from knowledgeable and well-trained staff members.
A Local Hero Moment
Recently, our staff had to rely on Kahoots pet store. A stray mother cat showed up at Chino Hills Self Storage, pregnant and in labor. She came to our office looking for help and in turn we sought help from Kahoots. They helped us to pick out the perfect whelping bed along with proper nutrition for the mother cat. We are happy to say that she gave birth to 6 healthy kittens and Kahoots continues to provide much-needed advice and health and wellness care for the mother cat. Very soon the perfect little kittens will be placed in loving homes and mother cat will get spayed so she can get along with her happy go lucky life. We will forever be grateful for the help and support that was provided by our neighbor Kahoots.
