On Saturday, March 4th, the annual Lakewood Run was held in the city of Lakewood. The event was attended by members of the Carlo, Inc. property management team, representing the San Fernando Valley, Chino Hills, Pasadena, and Downtown Los Angeles. The Lakewood Run has a tradition of service, having been formed approximately 30 years ago through a partnership between the Lakewood Sheriff’s station and Soroptimist International of Lakewood & Long Beach. The event brings together the communities of Lakewood and Long Beach to benefit programs and services for women and girls served by Soroptimist International of Lakewood and Long Beach, as well as abused and neglected children of Los Angeles County through the 999 Foundation.

The theme for this year's Lakewood Run was "Warriors Building a Healthier Community," with a unique addition of a 5k ruck. Participants had the option to participate in the 5k or 10k run/walk event, as well as the 5k ruck, which involves walking with weight on your back to provide low-impact exercise based on military workouts. The rucking option paid tribute to military warriors, while promoting health and wellness.

The health expo was held at the Lakewood Center and featured local businesses sponsoring the event and giving away promotional items. It was an opportunity for 5k/10k participants, as well as the residents of Lakewood and Long Beach, to meet and greet the locals and learn more about the services offered by local businesses.
