Classic cars all have a story to tell about what they have accomplished in their lives, where they have been, and why they are still in operation. Classic cars, however, are no longer in production and are therefore inherently limited in supply, consequently holding a far greater and ever-increasing level of exclusivity. Classic cars are real-life objects that defined that heritage and established the reputation of the brand in the first place. I have always had a place in my heart for classic cars. Ever since I saw a Chevy Camaro 1969, I have had my own dream of owning a classic car of my own! Every classic car owner knows the gratitude of maintaining your very own vintage car. Whether you bought it brand new, used, or built it from the ground up, everyone appreciates a great looking classic car.
What a Sunday!
The Long Beach Swap Meet has been featured on such television shows as Monster Garage, Popular Hot-Rodding TV, and NHRA Drag Racing Today. The Long Beach Swap Meet takes place at Long Beach Veterans Memorial Stadium, Admission is $12 on the first Sunday of every month and parking is free for general admission. As soon as you enter the Veterans Stadium, there are lines of vendors with car parts and cars just waiting to be seen. The first car that caught my attention was a turquoise 1957 Chevy Bel Air. The white top and shiny blue lining made it look like a new toy! But that was just the start, the more and more I went down the line, the more and more I was amazed by the beauty of these cars! Though I couldn’t afford any of them, it was nice to see them in person and have the owners share the history of these incredible cars. You could tell the owners of these cars put in a great deal of work into them, and loved to let anyone who asked about them, but they were also there to sell them off and look for their next project!
There were as many car parts vendors as cars as well. As any car enthusiast will tell you, car parts can be hard to come by, especially if you’re looking to get an original. Most vendors were reasonable and looking to make a negotiable sell. I don’t have a vintage car that I’m working on, so I didn’t have much to look for. I enjoyed looking at all the vintage cars, and it was a pleasant Sunday morning. So, if you’re looking to fix a 1987 El Camino, or sell a part you don’t need, mark your calendar for the next event on Aug. 14th at 6am to 1pm.
