A Sea of Blue in the Heart of LA
The Dodgers World Series Parade in Downtown L.A. was everything a fan could hope for – and then some! We got there two and a half hours early to grab a good spot, but the crowd was already packed with Dodgers fans as far as I could see, and it was like a sea of blue and white in the streets. People showed up decked out in gear that went beyond just jerseys – there were huge Dodgers sombreros, those trending blue luchador masks, and of course, huge flags everywhere with slogans like “They Not Like Us”, repping LA’s pride after beating the New York Yankees.
We waited nearly two hours for the buses, but honestly, it felt like a big block part. People were swapping stories, and I overheard fans who drove all the way from Turlock, CA just to be here! Some families camped out too – some had packed meals, others had blankets and snacks, and kids were taking naps on the pavement to pass the time. Those kids were probably happy they got to skip school just to be at the parade! Even the buildings joined in, with some displaying “MVP Freddie” and “Buehler’s Day Off” banners from the windows. Everywhere you looked, there was something fun and quirky to see.
When the parade finally started, the energy went up another notch. It was amazing to see the team buses rolling by, even if it was just for a couple of minutes. My boyfriend, a lifelong Dodgers diehard fan, got super emotional when he saw Kershaw on the bus, wiping away tears. Seeing Kershaw get choked up really hit everyone, and it felt like we were all sharing a deeply proud moment with him. He’s been with the Dodgers the longest and this is his first World Series Championship! The joy, the relief, the absolute pride of finally bringing home the championship felt like it was written on his face and mirrored by every fan around us. Even I started tearing up! Everyone was just swelling with pride.
Electric Energy of the Dodger Nation
The crowd was electric. People didn’t mind that the glimpse of the players was short—just being part of the experience with thousands of other fans, high-fiving and chanting, was worth it. It felt like we were all connected in a massive Dodgers family reunion, one that only made sense in this city with these fans. I met people who had been waiting years, even decades, to see a victory like this and young fans who are just starting their love for the team.
An Unforgettable LA Moment
As the buses faded into the distance, no one was in a rush to leave. People were still buzzing, sharing stories, and taking pictures. It felt like the city was ours for that little bit longer. My boyfriend was glowing, and I loved watching him take it all in, finally seeing the team he’s cheered for his whole life celebrate their win with all of Los Angeles.
If you ever get the chance to experience a championship parade, do it! The sense of unity, the excitement, and the pure pride is something that just can’t be described fully. Even a brief glimpse of the players, surrounded by the energy of so many passionate fans, is definitely going to be a core memory.
