Fall is the air. The leaves are starting to fall and pumpkin spice everything is everywhere. It's time to start preparing for Halloween. Whether you're looking for something fun and safe for the little ones, or just want to have some fun on your own, here are some Halloween happenings around the Delta area:
Home Decorating Contest - Oakley (The hometown of Cypress Self Storage!)
The City of Oakley Recreation Division is holding its Annual Halloween Decorating Contest. Residents are invited to decorate their houses and enter the contest. The contest is open to any home within the City of Oakley limits. Decorations are limited to the exterior front yard and roof only. Entries will be posted online for a public vote. (At Cypress Self Storage, we are so excited about this contest, and we cannot wait to see all the beautiful and spooky decorations around town!)
(Note: If you're thinking that hiring a professional decorating service will give you an edge, think again. Decorations installed by a professional service will not be eligible.)
The entry deadline is October 22nd. Public voting takes place October 23-28th and the winner will be announced October 29. To enter the contest, or for more information, please visit: www.ci.oakley.ca.us/recreation/hometowndecoratingcontest/
Hometown Halloween - Brentwood
If you have little ones and don't want to drag them all over the neighborhood (or just want your kids to get more candy!), come to Brentwood's Hometown Halloween in Downtown Brentwood. This annual tradition, put on by the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, takes place Saturday, October 27, 2018
5 p.m - 7:30 p.m. in downtown Brentwood on Oak Street, from Diablo Way to Third Street.
As the candy booths are set up by local businesses, it's also a great way for parents who are new to the area to learn about local businesses and services - and get free candy from them!
If you have young children, this event may be perfect for you! It's a more controlled environment to make sure that you can keep a close eye on your little ones. Perhaps this is the perfect activity for first and second time trick-or-treaters.
