As we start a new year, a lot of us are making New Year's Resolutions like eating healthier and exercising more. But, as you are well aware, many start off strong and, come February, the new "habits" have already withered away, replaced by our old habits.
Perhaps one of the reasons so many New Year's Resolutions never last is because it is a wish with no real plan put in place to make sure the result is achieved. So instead of making a resolution, make a goal with a plan and schedule of how it will be accomplished.
If exercising more is one of your goals for 2019, here are some ways to put your plan into action. There are many different gyms and workouts available for you, it really is a matter of personal preference.
There are the $10/month gyms such as Crunch and Fitness Planet where you can workout on your own. If you like the smaller group-type workout, you can go to Orangetheory or to a Personal Trainer for a one-on-one or small group workout. If you enjoy group classes, Roseville has both a 24-Hour Fitness and a California Family Fitness available. Maybe cycling is more your style, you can choose from CycleBar or HouseRide Cycle and go get your spin on! If you want to make it more of a family event, then you can look at Life Time Athletic and the soon-to-be open VillaSport.
Life Time Athletic opened in Roseville in 2015 so it is fairly new to the local fitness scene. For the kids, Life Time has a children's center; camps, kids sports, and kid-only pools. For the adults, it offers classes of all types (yoga, pilates, group classes, swim), sporting leagues, tennis, personal training, nutritional assessments and weight loss programs. After you workout, you can relax in the spa or sauna. If you really want to unwind, visit the Life Spa which offers a full hair and nail salon as well as massage and esthetic services. If you find yourself hungry after your workout, visit the LifeCafe'. Here they offer smoothies/shakes, salads, healthy snacks and meals for mom and dad as well as the kids. "With luxury locker rooms and premier classes to coaching, training and so much more, Life Time is here to support you in living the life you imagine". If you are interested in visiting Life Time, they offer passes so you can experience their facility. It is worth noting that you can visit both the LifeSpa and LifeCafe' without being a member.
Just down the street from Life Time Athletic, Villa Sport is slated to open Spring 2019. Although new to Roseville, VillaSport is not new to the luxury fitness market. Roseville will be their 8th location and their 4th California location. They will offer "resort-style" facilities, indoor and outdoor amenities such as fitness and recreation swimming pools, a cardio center, cable and free-weight equipment, and an NBA hardwood court. Beyond the fitness amenities, the facility will have outdoor fire pits and lounge areas with large screen TV's and a separate adults-only cafe' with wine tastings and social gatherings. Additional amenities include a full spa with massage and esthetics services. Although scheduled to open this spring, you can join their VIP list to receive updates on the facility and information on becoming a member.
If you need to grab a friend to hold you accountable, do it; they probably need an accountability partner too! Wherever you choose to workout, make sure to put exercising on your calendar just like you do for your other appointments. It is an important appointment to keep!
