After starting in Los Angeles, California we then expanded Smart Self Storage into the Sacramento area, which made perfect sense as our business partners have lived in Sacramento all their lives. With Sacramento being embodied by the Smart Self Storage team, we are proud to have our four facilities in the greater Sacramento area, including: Green Valley Road Self Storage, Harbour Point Self Storage, West Sacramento Self Storage, and Roseville Self Storage. We are also in the process of adding to our facilities with a fifth in Rocklin, California, not far from our brand-new Roseville Self Storage site! In fact, did you see our infographic about the Top Things We Love To Do in Roseville, CA? (It's located at the bottom of our Roseville Self Storage homepage.)
Our roots are in California and we love our customers. Ensuring that we support the needs of Sacramento is important to us. Today's post highlights some of the fun reasons we love Sacramento so incredibly much.
10 Fun Reasons We Love Sacramento (and you should too)
1. The Weather
It's the perfect combination of Mediterranean climate with low humidity, which means for most of the year it is warm and comfortable. Although there are some real scorchers in July or August, which is the height of summer, the weather is beautiful virtually year-round which means everything looks warm and radiant, very little winter blues here.
2. More Spending Money
The cost of living in Sacramento is lower compared to other Californian cities because it is only 5% higher than national average (unlike cities like LA where you are looking at 21.5% higher than the national average). This means you get the benefits of living in California without the extra cost, and you are still in an area with reasonable income rates meaning you will have plenty left over for the more important things in life.
3. Hiker's Paradise
Whether you're a hiker, walker, or skier (or maybe water sports are more your thing), there is an abundance of nature to utilize for the outdoorsy types in Sacramento. This is because there are large amounts of fresh water lakes and rivers as well as mountains and plenty of trails to explore. One of our favorites is the American River Parkway which caters to a variety of activities including rafting, boating, fishing, walking, or hiking and has plenty of surrounding park areas for families or quiet time alike.
4. Historical Gems
As the capital of California, Sacramento has a rich culture and heritage that you can explore and visit. From museums and historic buildings, you can't help but get caught up in the back story of the city. Some interesting places to note and visit include: Sutter's Fort in Midtown, California Automobile Museum, California State Railroad Museum (home of the Polar Express) and California’s State Capitol Museum.
5. Central Hub
One of the joys of Sacramento is that it puts you in the middle of everything you might want to escape to or visit for a break or getaway. It makes a variety of stunning places easier to visit and accessible, for example it is close to the ocean if you want to take a trip to the beach but also close to the mountains for a retreat to wine country. Sacramento has become the central hub to be in if you like taking mini breaks or traveling, and with so many beautiful places to visit you'll wonder why you didn't move there sooner.
6. Rich Art & Culture
Sacramento is incredibly rich and culturally diverse with a wide array of experiences to discover that hosts plenty of cultural events throughout the year. From Chinese New Year to Cinco de Mayo celebrations and festivities are the frequent atmosphere. That doesn't mean that there aren't things to see day-to-day, for example the Crocker Art Museum boasts an impressive display of long-standing pieces that date back to the Gold Rush and beyond as well as having premium Californian collections on display.
7. Kids Activities
For families and those with children, Sacramento offers plenty of attractions to keep them entertained in the off-time, and a particular favorite is Fairytale Town (and yes, it's as magical as it sounds). It's excellent for the creativity and imagination of children for active play but avoids the traditional tacky or cheesy elements! Plus, you've also got the zoo and mini roller coaster park to appease them as well. (At Roseville Self Storage, we love to help growing families with the extra storage space they need so much. If you have a growing family, don't hesitate to reach out and see how we can help with your storage needs or just general questions about the area.)
8. Fresh Produce
Health enthusiasts will be pleased to know that because Sacramento is excellent for growing food and produce there is a fantastic food scene and healthy environment. You can source direct from the farmer's market or take advantage of the multiple food and agricultural festivals, many of which focus on a single produce at fantastic rates and prices.
9. Park Life
The Sacramento park network is fantastic and many of their parks take things up a notch with over 222 in the city you are bound to stumble across these hidden gems. From the central Discovery Park which is around 300 acres to the smaller McKinley Park with 30 acres there is always a place to house your picnic or day out. Many of these also have sports courts (tennis, volleyball etc.) as well as swimming pools, plus there are several parks that are incredibly dog friendly including the North Natomas or Granite Regional Parks.
10. Drive-In Movies
This fantastic, vintage experience is one that everyone should try, and Sacramento has one of the largest chains of drive-in theaters in the country, which makes summer nights extra special. It's perfect for taking out the whole family and can be a budget-friendly activity that all ages can enjoy, plus the venues usually have places to run around and have fun too.
Sacramento has so much to offer from its up and coming neighborhoods to its happy lifestyle and the people that live here. These are just a few of the many reasons that we feel like Sacramento is our home away from home and why we will aim to serve the Sacramento community as best we can.
