We Love The Greater Los Angeles Area

|

Let us start by saying we love Los Angeles, California and its surrounding cities. It's where our roots are and where we got started, our home office is still in the Valley in the greater LA area although we have definitely expanded since then. LA feels like home and the community we serve is a special one, and as such we are always looking for ways to meet the needs of those around us in this area.

We already offer multiple storage units in the greater LA area including: Los Angeles Self Storage, Arroyo Parkways Self Storage, Lakewood Self Storage, and Chino Hills Self Storage. We are also expanding our reach in the Chino area in California by opening another facility close to the Chino Hills Storage to cater to our growing customer base. One of the reasons we love LA so much is the abundance of things to do! Here are some of our favorites, and why we don't stray too far from home. Here are 13 reasons we love Los Angeles so much!

13 Fun Things to do in L.A.

1. Disneyland

We thought we would start with some family fun, which is a particular favorite among kids, and often a once in a lifetime experience. Although it can be costly, many families love to visit Disneyland during seasonal changes during special events and festivals. And, for those who are local, you can save on costs by sleeping at home (instead of nearby hotels).

2. Griffith Observatory

This planetarium can give visitors a view into space with telescopes! Visitors enjoy live shows and a budget-friendly admission price. It houses plenty of exhibits, special events, and programs throughout the year to enjoy. Favorites include the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon Theatre Programs, daily demonstrations, and talks. We recommend the monthly sunset walk and talk for stunning views and experiences.

3. The Grove

For shopping and dining on another level, The Grove has it all with a shopping mall and complex that is also right next to the historic Farmer's Market, which plenty of locals enjoy. From fresh produce to big brands and products, there is something for all budgets.

4. Hollywood Walk of Fame

Want to walk where your favorite celebrities or inspirations have been? Then there's no place better than the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which now covers around 15 blocks along Hollywood Boulevard, stretching onto Vine Street. It's the must-see tourist destination that locals should always visit once. And, with over 2,500 stars there must be something to see for everyone.

5. Venice Beach

The fantastic LA beaches aren't just for soaking up the sun, they are also cultural hot-spots and Venice beach in particular is world renowned for their skateboarders and body-builders. If you are looking for something more low-key, there are plenty of book stores and cafes along the seafront to enjoy too.

6. The Huntington Library, Art Collection, and Botanical Gardens

The name speaks for itself and viewers can enjoy the variety of gardens and displays with their free admissions. The massive research library is one of the largest in the US with collections on prints, rare books, and manuscripts as well as maps and photographs throughout history for those who want culture and history injected into their day.

7. Hiking Trails

LA is also renowned for its hiking and walking trails particularly around Griffith Park, Fryman Canyon Park, and Runyon Canyon Park, all of which are favorites that can allow you to explore and see LA from different angles. Those moving to the area should make use of the sites with trails of varying difficulty and markings but giving you a rural experience close to home.

8. The Getty Center

LA's Getty Center is another stunning example of great architecture and gardens with a hilltop view of Los Angeles. It showcases art (focusing on American and European Art) and the buildings itself boast open, modern designs and shouldn't be missed. The beautifully landscaped central garden is a favorite, taking you on a journey of scent and sound using over 500 varieties of plants.

9. Rodeo Drive

Another shopping epicenter, however this has a luxury element with many high-priced items. That being said, it's also a favorite tourist attraction as big fashion brands showcase their work and latest designs. Even if one does not want to part with their life savings, window shopping on Rodeo Drive is a wonderful experience!

10. Walking Tours

The joy of urban living in LA is that you can embark on a walking tour to see architectural wonders including historic, art deco buildings, skyline tours and buildings using eco-friendly transport. Although you are guaranteed to be tired at the end, it can be a great adventure and allows you to cover a lot of ground, appreciating the history that many simply walk past.

11. Universal Studios

If theme parks are your thing, then Universal Studios will be right up your street and it focuses on themes surrounding entertainment with various attractions and areas dedicated to certain themes. For example, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, and the studio tour are all areas that make this theme park the 9th most visited in the world.

12. California Science Center

Here you can see exhibits that include air and spacecraft, including discussions and artifacts from the Space Shuttle. You can enhance your viewing by watching IMAX movies, and in recent years they have added more notable attractions including a climbing wall and motion simulator for interesting effects.

13. STAPLES Center

For sports fans, the Staples center is a sports arena that is one of the most amazing in LA and where international sports including basketball, hockey, football, and various other leagues utilize space for games. It is also next door to the convention center which hosts events throughout the year and can accommodate massive crowds.

LA has so much to offer and this is why we consider it our home. We will always find new and exciting ways to cater to our LA community, as we love our community and customers. We hope our list of favorite activities in Los Angeles helps you plan your next weekend adventure, and please make sure to stop by one of our Smart Self Storage locations to say "hi".
