Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting Elk Grove, CA for three nights. As a remote team member of Harbour Point Self Storage, I was in-town for a team offsite. During our team meetings, we made sure to explore many of the fun dining options in town. We are obsessed with Elk Grove, CA, and love exploring our amazing city.

Because we had all been traveling (and driving) quite a bit for our team offsite, we decided to stay at TownPlace Suites by Marriott Sacramento Elk Grove, conveniently located on E Stockton Blvd., very close to Highway 99. Also, because we had been driving and traveling a lot, we decided to find a few restaurants close by to TownPlace Suites, within walking distance, to stretch our legs and enjoy the fresh air in Elk Grove, CA.

After a morning of meetings, when I surveyed the team for lunch suggestions, one team member recommended Black Bear Diner. (He had noticed the restaurant the previous night when we had dined at Mikuni.) I immediately voted “yes”, as it seemed like a really fun place and was walkable from our hotel. I completely enjoyed our walk to-and-from lunch, and our meal was delightful.

Location Is Everything

These days, we are all so busy. Whether you are walking (like we did), driving through Elk Grove on Highway 99, or are a resident of Elk Gove, we all know the value of convenience. I found Black Bear Diner to be very convenient in its location. It’s at the intersection of so much. And, there is an abundance of parking.

A Comfortable Environment

Upon arriving at Black Bear Diner, we knew our experience would be special. The restaurant decor was so much fun. The theme was on-point with bears carved out of wood, teddy bears for sale, and an overall log cabin feel. Upon stepping into the restaurant, you could feel the stress melt away. You felt like you were in another world! Black Bear Diner in Elk Grove is a family-friendly restaurant where adults and kids of all ages can relax have a great meal.

Sitting Outside

While the indoor seating looked amazing, we opted to sit outside based on my personal suggestion. The weather that day was incredibly nice, and I wanted to breathe in the fresh air. (I’m from out-of-town, and this time of year dining outside is generally not an option at home due to colder weather.) I’m thankful that Black Bear Diner offered outdoor seating as an option.

As we enjoyed our table outside, we noticed multiple customers with dogs. It’s nice to know that Black Bear Diner is pet-friendly, with outdoor seating available for guests with dogs.

Delicious Food

I ordered the turkey club sandwich with French fries, and I must say it was one of the better club sandwiches I have had in quite some time. My portion was abundant (but I ate it all). Despite the restaurant being busy (we were there on a holiday), our meal arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and was very fresh and delicious.

I was so hungry and focused on my own meal that I didn’t really focus on what other members of my team were eating (although I noticed one other team member had a delicious sandwich with sweet potato fries)! While portions are very generous, I easily ate my entire plate. (This was after a very extensive dinner the night before, so it shows you just how great Black Bear Diner’s food tasted!)

Logistics

When you are finished eating at Black Bear Diner, your waiter/waitress will bring your check/bill to your table. When you are ready, you just need to bring that bill to the counter (where you checked in) to pay. It’s a simple process.

I’ll Be Back (With My Kids)

When I left the restaurant, I noticed a few things. I noticed that they have fun teddy bears and a really amazing dessert selection (available to go). I was not super hungry at that point, because I devoured my entire meal (and had a good-sized meal the night before). However, I took mental note! Next time, I definitely want to visit this restaurant with my kids. I have a feeling they will absolutely love the environment, the food, and the overall experience.

In Closing

Ultimately, we were in town for business. So, after our lunch, it was back to work. I’m thankful that Black Bear Diner provided our team the nourishment and break that we all needed. I felt like we were able to get back to work after lunch and accomplish quite a bit.
