When moving to a new community, it’s important to know what locals consider to be the best source of places to eat, have fun, and get excellent services for things like car repairs, beauty treatment, and dry cleaning. Yup, I put that last one in on purpose because it’s important to have a source for getting excellent dry cleaning and alteration services. Masters Cleaners is a reliable source for all your dry cleaning and alteration needs. Here’s what I learned from those who won’t take their clothes anywhere else.
When Pressed for Time, Masters Cleaners Comes Through
Okay, can you resist loading up on puns when discussing dry cleaning and alterations? If the answer is yes, I envy your self-control. One of the things that’s a part of life is the need to have clothes altered. Having a reliable source for that service is important because it’s often done for special occasion clothing. Or it’s a service that may need to be done quickly because the need wasn’t expected. That’s one of the areas that makes Masters Cleaners stand out. They are known for their ability to offer alterations done quickly but not at the cost of precision. Masters Cleaners has been a staple in Elk Grove, providing everything from basic hemming to complex clothing alterations, all at a reasonable price.
A Clean Winner
You have to ask to learn what people like about a service, and so I did. I happened to stop by on a day that looked busy, so I was able to ask a customer for a bit of his time. I learned that most people who used Masters Cleaners are return customers, and the shop is known for its reliability. He said that he’s been using Masters Cleaners for years and has never had a bad experience. He initially learned about them from a friend who also is a long-time customer. He uses their dry-cleaning services routinely. After thanking him for his time, I wasn’t ready to wash my hands of the place without researching what makes a great dry-cleaning process. Unfortunately, the person working that day was busy, so I had to take my research to another level. Here’s what I learned.
Bucking the System
For once in life, things are exactly what they sound like. Dry cleaning is all about the lack of water, so it’s cleaning with a dry process. The advantage of dry cleaning over normal washing is that its use of solvents creates a gentler way of cleaning clothes. For delicate and special clothing items, this is the best route to ensure your clothes won’t be damaged. While it may sound a bit weird to think of cleaning with no water, solvents are used to lift everything from minor to serious stains; therefore, the process is targeted. Although it may sound like something that’s a modern solution (get it?) for an ancient problem, dry cleaning has been around for centuries. According to historians, there is evidence of dry-cleaning dating as far back as 79 AD. At that time, the solvents used were clay, lye, and ammonia cleaning agents. As time flowed on, clothes were soaked in a long and involved process called bucking. In the early 1800s, a man named Jean Baptiste Jolly invented a dry-cleaning system using gasoline and kerosene. I don’t know about you, but to me, this sounds like a hot mess waiting to happen. In fact, this remained the standard process until the early 1900s, when less flammable solvents were used. Today’s solvents are much more environmentally friendly than those used in the past yet remain spot on in dry cleaning even the toughest of jobs.
The lack of water to clean is only half the story in dry cleaning. The other half is the use of a dry-cleaning machine. After stains have been identified and special solutions have been applied to those stains, garments are put in a dry-cleaning machine. The machines agitate the garments. The machine then uses a soap solution and another cleaning solvent to remove grime and dirt from the fabric. It’s important to note that this is a gentle agitation and not what a residential washing machine typically offers. After the soap and gentle agitation process, warm air extracts the solvents. The solvents collected by the machine during this part of the process are reused because they go into the machine’s collection system. All garments are then steam-pressed to remove wrinkles and restore the garments to their original shape and drape. The last part of the process is a final inspection to be sure everything is crisp, clean, and ready to go. After learning the process of dry-cleaning clothing, I understand why finding a reliable source of this service is so important. Masters Cleaners have been in business for years and have remained a favorite for Elk Grove’s dry-cleaning needs. The next time you need to have your clothing altered or dry cleaned, go to Masters Cleaners for excellent service.
