If you've grown up in Placer County, you'll remember the commercial jingle, "Take a Peek at Denio's Farmers Auction, Market and Bazaar This Week". Well, 70 years have gone by, the jingle has been shortened to "Take a Peek at Denio's Farmers Market This Week" and Denio's is now the size of a small town! Family Owned for Decades
In 1947, the Denio's family started selling their produce at Saturday auction near Southern Pacific Railyard in Roseville. Their belief was that an open air market provided the opportunity for a seller to operate a retail business in a high traffic area with the lowest possible overhead costs. It would not only help keep costs down for the seller, it helped customers save money. Denio's was a first for the area and before long, other vendors began renting space from the Denio's family. In very little time, Denio's (as it was simply known at the early years) became a popular Saturday event with vendors selling various commodities. As the years went by, Denio's grew and so did its name. By 1960, it became known as Denio's Farmer's Market, Auction and Bazaar with a reputation for being the largest, most well run market of its kind in California! By 1970, this popular event expanded its operations to include Sundays.
As the saying goes, build it and they will come! By 1980s the increase in weekend vendors that wanted to sell created a need to expand the ways in which people were able to sell. But no matter how big Denio’s has grown, the dedication to providing a safe, family friendly, affordable way for people to buy and sell remains the same. Denio's Roseville Farmer's Market and Auction remains a family owned business operated by five generations carrying on the Denio vision Today, Denio's is 70 acres strong with no signs of slowing down.
