Wild Bills Tattoo

|

Wild Bills Tattoo has justifiably earned its notoriety for several things. It is the oldest, single-owner tattoo shop in California. Bill Hill, its owner, is a genius tattoo artist and is known for only having others like him work in his shop. Hill is entrenched in the local community and for years, was seen at events with his 1964 Amphicar. Hill is, to say the least, a colorful character inside and out. But even more than his passion for ink, art, and weird wheels, Hill is passionate about helping others. Read on to learn how one man and his tattoos have helped raise thousands of dollars for children.

Tattoo-a-Thon

Wild Bills Tattoo

For over two decades, Wild Bills Tattoo has poured an amazing amount of help all going to UC Davis Children’s Hospital! Thanks to the generosity of volunteer tattoo artists and those who come to the event, Wild Bills Tattoo has raised over $300,000 with its Tattoo-A-Thon. This year’s event is on February 24, 2024. From 8 a.m. until midnight, tattoo artists work hard to produce your dream tattoo while raising money for UC Davis Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Artists donate 100 percent of their wages and tips to this great local institution. Hill has seen this event grow over the years and says one of the neat things about it is that people who have waited for an excuse to get a tattoo will pull the trigger because they're benefitting an invaluable cause. The artists who participate say it's as fulfilling to them because it’s a day full of the comradery that happens when everyone is focused on supporting one cause. And of course, what better cause can there be than the region's only children's hospital providing comprehensive care to improve the lives of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults? Whether you’re going for your first tat or only have one square inch left to be fully covered in ink, save the date to make it happen on February 24, 2024, at Will Bill's Tattoo in Roseville.

Tattoo in Time

Humans have been marking their skin for centuries with thousands of different significances. Across cultures, tattoos have been used for a variety of reasons. The reasons include proclaiming love, warding off evil, expressing religious beliefs, signifying status, adorning the body and even being used as forms of punishment. According to experts in the study of tattoos and their place in culture, Otzi the Iceman offers proof that people have been using tattoos for at least 5,300 years!  Experts in today's tattoo usage say 32 percent of people in the US have at least one tattoo. As for the reasons people get tattoos? The most common reason is to honor someone, or something followed by wanting to make a statement about beliefs. And finally, there are those who get inked to improve their personal appearance. No matter what the reason, everyone who is a fan of the art should expect the best and settle for nothing less which is what you get at Wild Bill's Tattoo.

There's so much more to say about Wild Bills Tattoo and the man himself. In the tattoo world, Bill Hill is a legend, has justifiably earned many awards, has exchanged ideas and worked with others who are also industry-famous, and remains the real deal. Check out his website for full coverage of Hill's many accomplishments.

Tattoo Talk

When you commit to your ink using the talents found at Wild Bill's Tattoo, you’re in the best hands in the region. Those who have loads of experience in the world of tattoos give the following advice in navigating your tattoo scene in your area. First, it's important to think about safety. Cleanliness and excellent sterilization practices must be obvious the second you check out the shop. Wild Bill's Tattoo practices the highest standards in the industry when it comes to cleanliness and how equipment is handled. It's also important to recognize that tattoo artists aren't a one-size-fits-all situation. In order to get your expectations met, you should study the artist's work online so that you choose an artist that specializes in the effect you’re after. Once you see who is on the website, go to the artist's social media sites for a more in-depth look at their style. And just like not all artists' styles aren't one size fits all, all artists don't click with all people. Since this is a big commitment in time and money, be sure to ask for a consultation so you and the artist can spend time together. This experience is supposed to be a positive one which includes forming a relationship with someone who you'll come back to again and again. And you will because most people don't stop at one tattoo so find the artist you can work with time after time. Wild Bill's Tattoo has years of experience in serving the community's thirst for ink. It's the tattoo shop equivalent to the cool kids' table so if you haven't already claimed your seat there, grab your design and make an appointment today.
