Before traveling to Turlock, California, I have heard people mention the famous brewery they have. I’m not a fan of beer but I was intrigued and I wanted to check it out! I decided that I will visit Dust Bowl Brewing Co. for an early dinner. I saw that they had pretty lights and a huge yard on Yelp and Google, so naturally, I had to be there when they atmosphere was at its best.

Where It All Started

The Tate family came from Oklahoma and settled in the Central Valley, California. In 2006, Brett Tate, a third generation Tate family member saw Don Oliver in the newspaper having won the 2006 Samuel Adams Longshot Homebrew competition. Tate and Oliver both shared their passion and desire for starting their own breweries. After 10 years of hard work and continuous success, they built a 30,000 square-foot facility for their brewery, taproom, and beer garden.

A1 Atmosphere

It was almost sunset and it was getting chilly. I got to park right away since their parking lot was very spacious and it surrounded the whole facility. Walking into Dust Bowl, it is an enormous facility. You would expect one of those warehouse-style stores with multiple stores inside, but nope! This is just Dust Bowl Brewing Co. itself. There’s an indoor seating area and a huge outside area as well. Kids were running around freely on the grass area while their parents enjoy their food and drinks. I would assume that in the summer, this place is going to be even more packed. The space they have is incredible, specially for huge gatherings. I would not be surprised if someone had their wedding reception here. It’s a very cool space with farm-like aesthetic.

If you sat at the bar, your view is literally the brewery. Sitting there, it probably feels like you’re at a brewery tasting tour. Dust Bowl Brewing Co. features 27 taps with rotating Dust Bow brews and seltzers. Being as indecisive as I am, there were so many choices that I just simply could not decide. Good thing they have a flight sampler where you can choose 5 different beers and or seltzers! So you're not stuck with a full pour of beer you don't like, this sampler is such a great idea. After having such a hearty meal at Memo’s Cocina and Tequila Bar, I was already feeling full from the 5 small glasses of beer sampler.

Unfortunately, I decided not to indulge at Dust Bowl Brewing Co. Their menu, of course, were the perfect pairings to eat with beer. And a bonus! Each meal says which beer goes well with it. Perfect for those who can’t decide which drink to get. Their menu consists of starters, salads, grilled sandwiches, burgers, brick oven artisan pizzas, soups, sweets, and a kid’s menu as well. Their choices of drinks and food will definitely be loved by everyone!

Relax and Drink

While enjoying my beer, an old couple sat next to me and the employees seemed to know their orders right away. I got to have a brief conversation with the lovely couple, and they mentioned how Dust Bowl Brewing Co. has been their favorite spot since it opened. That they come there once in a while to have a night out to themselves and enjoy the atmosphere. Just by looking around, you can see how people are having fun with their friends, family, and/or coworkers. As the night went on, more and more people started coming even on a Tuesday night. You can just tell that this is the place to be after a stressful day at work. Dust Bowl Brewing Co. definitely offers a stress free environment while unwinding with good food and beer.
