A Cut Above the Rest
Thirty12 Studios is a small but impactful barber shop here in Turlock. With a shop packed with Stan State alumni, their focus is to bring the community together while also offering some of the best barbers in the Central Valley. Located at 3012 Geer Road, this shop has become a go-to destination for individuals seeking not just a haircut but an experience that goes above and beyond expectations. It's also only 6 minutes away from us here at Turlock Self Storage so after you get a fresh cut, you can swing by here to unload more of your boxes into your storage unit.
Owner Marty Green has had a few other shops prior to Thirty12 but this is definitely his best. Unlike the others, this shop has become more of a social club according to some customers. They opened a few months ago and are looking to be fully open by the end of the year. Their hours are currently Monday-Friday 11 am to 7 pm but Marty is looking to have weekends open once a set schedule is made.
The Atmosphere
From the moment you enter the shop, you're greeted with a cold drink and a positive vibe. The shop's interior blends simplistic aesthetics of black and white with the classic barber shop charm. The simplistic decor creates an environment where clients can feel relaxed and confident that they are in capable hands.
The overall vibe is really relaxed and welcoming, there's always music playing but never blaring. You can still hold a conversation while not having to yell over music or a TV that’s too loud. There’s a massage chair free to use, a great way to unwind after or before you get a haircut. If it's being used, the vintage vendor has some great finds with greater prices for his pieces. Ranging from sports jerseys to nostalgic papers with Michael Jordan that are framed, these pieces add to the aesthetic of this shop.

On top of giving haircuts and helping people style their hair, they also host community events like their "Free Haircut Day" for students returning to school. It was a great hit and many families took advantage of this great example of community involvement.
There are plans for a possible community garden or monthly small business popup events sometime in the future but for now, there are a handful of great small business vendors already set up inside. The main vendor set up is a vintage seller that focuses on nostalgic sportswear ranging from San Jose Sharks ponchos to Lakers hoodies. As I said, they have an awesome selection of vintage and historic framed newspaper articles featuring athletes like Michael Jordan, Mike Tyson, Magic Johnson, and more!
