How many cafés and bakeries are in Modesto alone is a question that I don’t have the answer to…but if I had to make a guess, I would say anywhere from 15 to 25. Maybe even more!
So how does Bakeshop in downtown Modesto stand out above the rest? It’s pretty simple. Their coffee and baked goods are just that, simple.
I’m not trying to speak negatively about keeping things simple, but you don’t need to complicate things for your customers by adding dozens of ingredients and mix-and-match options to your pastries or drinks. Sometimes it’s okay to stand out and have a crazy fusion coffee with cocoa beans grounded in Puerto Rico or something like that, but other times people just want a good and simple cup of coffee.
Prime Location
Being in downtown Modesto, they’re competing with a handful of other Coffee shops, just in a 100 yard radius of the Bakeshop. They are right by the Preservations Coffee and FoodFix, another great shop with baked goods.
Unlike the other bakeries and coffee shops, inside the Bakeshop, the atmosphere is very much the type of place where I could see a fun and chill open mic night.
It feels like the setting for a TV show like Friends if it was based here in Modesto! Very cozy with a lot of natural light coming from the skylight in the back. This is definitely the place where you can take a coffee break from work or meet up with some friends to discuss your class project or even host a job interview because of how relaxed and inviting this shop is.
A Mouth Watering Menu
I’ll talk about beverages in a bit, but let’s first go over the menu. From strawberry fruit tarts to the Mochimu sugar cookies, to the locally famous ice cream sandwiches, Bakeshop has what your sweet tooth is craving.
To be honest, I didn’t know they had ice cream sandwiches, and I wish I did because I would’ve gotten one! I guess this is a good reason to go back, especially during this hot week we have coming up.
The drinks were perfectly simple, nothing out of the ordinary and nothing that you’ll have to question if you’ll like it or not. If you are an avid coffee drinker and partake in brood drinks, make sure to give the big shop a chance because it might just be the best place to find your next favorite drink.
Located only 13 miles from our storage facility, next time you are feeling like a snack, make sure you check out the Bakeshop in Downtown Modesto. Also make sure you try their ice cream sandwich, I definitely need to go back and try one of those!
