Sometimes I drive around Roseville and see a once-vacant piece of land being developed and wonder what is going in...new stores? new homes?
Recently, I attended the Roseville Chamber's Economic Development meeting where Laura Matteoli, the Economic Development Director for the City of Roseville was speaking. She only had about 15 minutes to speak but was able to give updates on many projects throughout the city, here are a few highlights.
Roseville's Growing Medical Industry
First she addressed the expansion in the medical industry and there is a lot! Kaiser has been in construction on their Riverside Blvd campus for about a year now. The new construction will add 194,000 square feet of medical offices and support services and they expect to move in sometime during the 4th quarter of 2019. Once the new offices are fully occupied, the old buildings will be demolished. Adventist Health’s new 28-acre campus is being constructed at the corner of N. Sunrise and Stone Point Dr. They began construction in May of 2017 and expect to open in April 2019. This new campus will house all of their administrative offices statewide and will have 280,000 square feet of office space. Sutter Health is also undergoing an expansion in the way of a 97,000 square foot acute care and ER addition. UC Davis Health plans to open its new 45,000 square foot outpatient clinic in Roseville in late 2019/early 2020. This clinic is double the size of and will replace their current clinic off of Douglas Blvd.
Westfield Galleria Mall - New Attractions!
If you haven’t been to the Westfield Galleria lately, there has been a lot of changes! As I am sure you heard, Sears closed its location leaving over 1 million square feet of retail space vacant. Yet, what is taking its place is an exciting addition to the mall! The first floor will be home to Round One Entertainment. Founded in Japan, Round One will have many family attractions such as an arcade, state-of-the-art bowling lanes, billiards, ping pong, darts and karaoke rooms. It will also have a dining area and bar. The second floor will house a brand new Cinemark Cinema which is expected to open in 2020.. Also new to the mall is Tea2, Peet's Coffee, Cantina Laredo and a Tesla showroom and office.
@TheGrounds Expansion Brings New Hotels and More
To meet the demands of events and conventions that will be coming into the area due to the current @TheGrounds expansion, there are a few new hotels that will be opening and a few planned for construction. The two recent hotels that opened is a Residence Inn and a Home2Suites that are located on Freedom Way near Top Golf. Nearby is a retail center that will house Living Spaces, carrying stylish home furniture & accents, including Asian-inspired designs as well as an Out of Bounds Brewery.

New Senior Housing Developments In Roseville
Senior residents make up 22% of Roseville’s population and, as a result, there will be a few new senior housing projects under construction to meet the demand. Looking at residential projects, the Campus Oaks Apartments located in the West Roseville area has seen completion of Phase 1 with both apartments and townhomes ready for occupancy and they will begin construction of Phase 2 soon. Within walking distance of Campus Oaks will be a brand new shopping/retail center anchored by Nugget Market's second Roseville location. Also in that center will be a hardware store, a daycare facility and commercial offices.
